According to Wikipedia, Electronic commerce, commonly written as e-commerce, is the trading in products or services using computer networks, such as the Internet. Electronic commerce draws on technologies such as mobile commerce, electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, Internet marketing, online transaction processing, electronic data interchange (EDI), inventory management systems, and automated data collection systems. Modern electronic commerce typically uses the World Wide Web for at least one part of the transaction's life cycle, although it may also use other technologies such as e-mail.
Nigeria is one of Africa’s most populated nations, it has suddenly become the ideal market for several e-Commerce startups. We have many ecommerce websites in Nigeria making it easy for people to do online shopping. It is now obvious we are experiencing our own DOT-com boom in Nigeria!
We have the likes of Jumia , Konga, Kara.com.ng, Gloo.ng, Dealdey, Supermart.ng, Yudala, Deluxe.com.ng, and many more. The most important question is that how many of these websites currently have the capacity to cater for all their visitors and also boast of the fastest transaction process when visitors are using their platform?
We take a look at the three fastest ecommerce websites in Nigeria and compare their speed to know the best overall among them.
We compared the three websites by using GTMETRIX to know their performance in the following areas – Page speed, Yslow grade, Page load time, Total page size and Total number of requests.
Take a look below at the screenshot between Juma.com.ng, Konga.com and Kara.com.ng to see the fastest website. Do not be surprised with the result that www.kara.com.ng is the fastest website among the three eCommerce websites in Nigeria . The result shows us that it is not all the publicity, big spending on advertisement that matter most .If your website is not well optimized to cater for the visitors, and user experience is bad, this will cost such company to waste their marketing funds without getting the desired return on the investment (ROI).

Why should ecommerce companies be concerned with their site’s speed?

Your users' experience in terms of navigating your site should be a great reason. Users have many options when it comes to consuming content on the internet, and a slow performing website will frustrate your users, sending them elsewhere. A faster and more responsive website will keep them more engaged and focused on your content, rather than waiting for scripts and images to load.
Another reason is for SEO. Google has announced they are using page speed in their ranking algorithm. This means that faster performing sites may rank higher in search engine results. As developers and marketers look to optimize their sites, page speed should be among the top optimizations to consider.
