The suspected shooter of the Plannned Parenthood centre in the US known as Robert Lewis Dear aged 57, reportedly spoke of "no more baby parts" after he was arrested following his crazy shooting spree of the family planning clinic in Colorado Springs which left three people dead, including one police officer.

Some eyewitnesses who watched the drama unfold in the clinic congratulated the police for hauling in the gunman without further bloodshed. Officials are yet to really ascertain reasons for Mr Dear's shooting which they call "a barbaric killing spree by a violent madman,"

Planned Parenthood is a major provider of women's health services that receives funding from the government and offers preventive checkups, contraceptives and abortions. It has 700 clinics around the United States and has been violently targeted before.

In July, anti-abortion activist David Daleiden began releasing a series of secretly recorded videos allegedly showing clinic workers discussing the sale of fetal tissue and changing rules to leave certain organs of an aborted fetus intact. Medical authorities concerned denied these allegations and warned circulation of such videos would cause violent actions.

Obama's reaction to the shooting:
What baffles me most is the level of seriousness the US attaches to the 3 lives that were lost ignoring the fact that it it is in fact supporting the butchering of thousands of unborn individuals who should be given equal chance to live. Reacting to the shooting, Obama made an impassioned call for tighter controls on military-style weapons.

"This is not normal. We can't let it become normal... if we truly care about this ... then we have to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them...Enough is enough." He sternly said.

Vicki Cowart, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains, had this to say:
"We've seen an alarming increase in hateful rhetoric and smear campaigns against abortion providers and patients over the last few months. That environment breeds acts of violence. We should not have to live in a world where accessing health care includes safe rooms and bullet-proof glass."

I agree totally with Mr Cowart on the last point.

Mayor John Suthers also had this to add. "We are in mourning today," Suthers told a news conference, saying that police, particularly SWAT teams, were "responsible for saving many many lives."
