Do take a look at some things in cheap cars before you grab them:

Engine capability; check for Piston rods ,ball bearing, catalytic converter,engine mounts,transmission mounts.

for uncomplicated issues like shaft,tie rod,tire rotation; you can still go for it, make a minor repair on them, and enjoy the clean ride.

I sometimes prefer manual transmission; though the ease is not there,unlike auto transmission which has complete ease and luxury; but cost of repair could be disastrous.
