You all will agree with me that Coca-Cola is kind of legendary, though not “necessarily” for the quality of the beverage. It’s just, ubiquitous, distinctive and kind of always been there. For many of us, or at least those of us with fairly relaxed parentage, it was the first beverage we ever sipped, likely at some party in the days of our childhood and youth, flanked with a delicious plate of Jollof rice. We stare into the mist in utter concentration on its satisfying taste as we made "that face" and guzzle down the “dark cola juice”.

Coca-Cola may seem rote, kind of everywhere, with its red and familiar brand color. But it’s got a bit of mystery, even some history to it. It was actually created as a kind of “local” beverage.
