hey peeps

lets help ourselves stay in shape and share exercise routines

i'm kindda lazy to exercise embarassed

apart from long walks. . . when i've pigged up a lil, i jog up and down the stairs @ home about 8-10 times (beats jogging in ma razzz hood)

. . .also do some situps and crunches every now and then.

since a month and a half ago, been running on d treadmill for bout 1 - 2miles a day - 4 times a week
mon - fri - journey to work, ive to walk bout 3/4 mile each way from the train station
play football on saturday afternoon - every other weekend

I Skip for about 30mins thrice aweek. Every other day i do push-ups and sit-ups

i jog 10mins daily, skip and do some sit ups i dont count and like 30 mins walk.

My dear. its not my fault. I was overweight before i got into this weight loss stuff, thats why i have to keep exercising to keep in shape, plus i have gotten used to it

between 30mins - 2 hrs on the threadmill

20 mins yoga!  3 times a week

on saturdays when i can  i go biking in the park near my house!

I'm trying to lose some weight so mine is pretty  intense

Monday Wednesday Friday
Jogging, I'm following a program called Couch to 5K which takes you from being a non runner to be able to run 5km in 30mins or less. Its an 8 week plan and I'm currently on week 4. I also do 30 mins of strength training with dumbbells afterwards

Tuesday Thursday Saturday.
I work out to Tae bo dvds usually about 45 mins and then sit ups and press ups afterwards

Sunday
My rest day, although sometimes depending on how I feel I might go for a long walk

sit up and i skip @ least five times in the morning.
It wasn't easy it takes determination to continue doing the exercise

Gym Mon, Wed & Friday (Threadmill, Bike, weights and swimming)
Walk about 4 miles everyday (Mon-Friday)
Play footie for about 2 hrs every sat

pushups are sooo hard. . . i cant do up to 10 before my arms start cramping embarassed cry
haven't really jogged since the threadmill crashed so i result to long(er) walks. asides that i do as many situps and crunches as i can. i'm trying to get a hang on pilates too, anybody with tips?

for the pushups, you need to hang in there, start from small repititions and increase day by day, try skipping if the treadmill is spoit. skipping is a good form of cardio

noted. what i want to know is what part of the body skipping puts in shape. . .is it the abs, upper or lower body coz i really need to work on my abs, its not tight like before.

Skipping and other cardio exercises burn fat in general. They don't target any area. But remember, in order for your abs to show, you need to burn the fat. this is a copy of a post i made before

The popular belief that exercising the stomach muscles alone will result in an attractive, toned tummy is very very false. You could have well developed lovely toned abdominal muscles but these muscles would still hide under the layer of fat covering them. Without exercise and the right types of food, you simply won't lose the fat that overlies your tummy. Like I said in the metabolism section, you have to burn as many calories as you are taking in, else you will not change the appearance of the fat tissue surrounding your abdominal muscles,
Now if you are thinking of spot reduction, forget it, those are myths. We cannot reduce fat from only one part of the body. When you lose body fat, you lose it from everywhere, and there is no way to target one particular area. Funny enough, the first place where we gain weight is the last place where we lose it. Once we lose fat from our body, we lose inches everywhere even where we do not want to lose such as in the breasts.--
The most important aspects to a flat tummy include
1. Diet first
2. Exercises
Unlike popular beliefs, exercises work as well, but diet modification is the most important step to losing belly fat. Just because strong abdominal muscles do not directly translate into a toned, abdomen does not mean that you should avoid exercising them.


Your diet should include the following:
1. dark green vegetables,
2. fresh fruits,
3. fish,
4. lean red meat,
5. Egg white.
6. Beans
7. Moi-Moi (Nigerian)
8. Lots and lots of water. If you can, drink a glass of water each hour.
Foods to avoid:
1. Rice
2. Pastries
3. Sugar
4. Saturated fats
5. Pizza
6. Bread
7. Chocolates
8. Pounded yam(Nigerian)
9. Eba (Nigerian)
10. Semovita (Nigerian)

Start exercising

Note please: these exercises help you to make your abs stronger, but does not reduce the layer of fat. So if u like do them 24 hours a day, they’ll only make you have strong abs, but the layer of fat still hides the abs
Aerobic and weight training will raise your metabolic rate thus making your body l burn more calories. Note that overuse of crunches will only shorten your abs, pull your head forward and gives you a bad posture. Here are some exercises:
A. Sucking the gut in: This is the easiest exercise. It works very well and is very easy to do; you could do it anywhere anyplace and anytime.
1. Exhale. Suck your gut in.
2. Maintain the contraction for 10 to 20 seconds.
3. Repeat 10 to 15 times, as often as you like throughout the day (for example while in the shower, sitting at your desk, while driving or in the bus).



Sha there are various other tummy exercises, more than thirty of them. If you have lost the flab over ur tummy and all you wan to do is tighten the muscles there then you can do crunches. If you do five hundred a day for two months, the muscles must comot by force.

Since a month ago, i tried to start a new exercise routine (my friend says that we need to adjust our routines regularly, I forgot why). I try to do 300 sit-ups every morning (that is if I won't be late for work) and also I walk a couple of blocks to work. When I get home, a do some leg raises. But I agree with what trimandtrendy said. We also need to have the proper diet for our exercise to 'pay off.' (I just hope that I can keep this up, not eating my normal dose of chocolates is really torture)

It's a pity I don't do any exercise, whether routine or once in a while. I'm too lazy to exercise. I can't even trek 100 metres.
I like playing football, but it has to be for fun, with no seriousness, and the boys in my area play 'too serious' football, so I don't join them. I don't want anybody to break my leg.

i can see that all the foods you told us to avoid are basically all we have in our diet. . .i mean this is naija, we survive on carbs

i gave up my gym membership since my gym buddy moved away. i tried to do it on my own but realised i spent the larger part of 1.5 to 2hours looking at women.

anyways, i jog for at least 30minutes 4 times a week
50 to 100 crunches to after jogging.

i skip on the days i dont go jogging. if you hate running(like most pple), i recommend this. it is the 'buisness'.
press ups are like a bane of my life but i manage to do at 20 in between skipping.

I am nowhere near cut and ripped but getting there.

my aim is to look like The Rock.

i seriously need to start something, i'm just being too lazy, i think i'll go for that skipping but i dont know how effective it is.mind u, i love being a size 12, just dont want to add to it, and to keep fit

To Miss trim, I'm definitely in Dominique's camp when i say that fore going pounded yam in the name of a diet is not just in moral contempt of the custom but also criminal. Now i may be a lot of things, but I'm no crime lover. Poundo and Eba stay! Thanks 4 the health tips though. grin
