I am forced to write this as I think Nigerians have a long way to cub the menace of boko haram. Despite the high level of insecurity coupled with corruption charges level on high ranking security officers, the citizens still share a huge portion of the blame. One will think the norm now is to be vigilant of his/her surroundings but the opposite is always practised. We tend to see how people go about their every day lives not caring about their surroundings, saying "God/Allah will help us". Yes am a true Christian and I believe in God but we men have to help ourselves for heaven to assist us. Maybe it's the high level of poverty or inadequate educational background but with what I have witnessed, many Nigerians are careless and have no respect for their safety. Few days ago I arrived in Kaduna State very late in the evening after a long and stressful journey from one of the southern state , and I lodged in a reputable hotel. At first the security clearance was impressive and I felt welcomed. At about 10.30pm, I was about sleep when I heard a knock on the door, thinking it was room service, I hurriedly opened the door only for me to find a woman looking very unkempt in front of me.  I asked her what the matter was and she said she wanted to see and talk to me. Honestly I was shocked as I never ordered for an escort, and if I did certainly it won't be an unkempt one. After a brief discussion with her I found out that she followed me immediately she saw me going into the hotel, and told the manager she was my wife. I was so angry and told her to get lost, far away from me and she left. After she has left, I went to the reception and with an angry tone requested to see the manager. I told him everything and he quickly apologise, and also gave me a discount on room service. Now, if that woman was a member of the dreaded boko haram, i sure won't be typing this. For christ sake it kaduna state, one of the northern state under attack from the terrorist sect and a hotel patronised by many  can lose guard easily, jeopardising the safety of everyone in it. I don't want to talk about the security lapses on the garage of the affected states and surroundings cos I can probably will fill a book with complaints. Unless we Nigerians see the importance of safety, I am afraid boko haram is here to stay. It will be long before it is tamed but only after every Nigerians is aware and educated about the need for vigilance and safety. ‎"Dongreat"
