It is ultimately important to note that to get an affirmative credit to this position from at least many Nigeria rap music analyst and deep sight music lovers, you as a rapper should possess all of these and more; great delivery, great freestyle ability and strength, stage charisma, swagger, street credibility, naija music flavor, multiple feature credits, sold out concerts, multiple awards on rap songs e.t.c The name that comes to mind at the mention of all these features are Olamide, MI, Phyno, Ice prince, Vector, Reminisce if we are to mention six of the best contemporary Nigerian Rapper.

Olamide who recently droped an Album titled Eyan Mayweather claim in one his track (Eyan Mayweather) posits that he is the best rapper in Nigeria which is the inspiration behind this story .He further accedes that he shutdown Eko Hotel during OLIC concert and other sold out concerts abroad. Therefore, before anyone claims to be Nigeria’s best rapper, they should do all of that. If you ask me that is just one out of all the features we highlighted above. Olamide is a great artiste and has so many of the other features aforementioned. Straight to his records, he has won 3 Awards related to Rap since 2011 but has 11 Awards in Total. Phyno won only 2 Awards related to Rap and 5 Awards in Total so far so good.

MI Abaga popularly known as African Rapper Number 1 won only 2 Awards related to Rap, 14 Awards in Total and Ice Prince Won 4 Awards Related to Rap and he is one of the Artist with the highest number of Awards, He has won 17 in Total. Vector tha viper is an undisputed champion in this list with six awards and three nominations (Nigerian music video awards (NMVA) 2012 – best afro hip-hop video, the Headies 2012 – lyricist on the roll, the Headies 2012 – best rap single, Nigeria entertainment awards (NEA) 2012 – best rap act, dynamix youth awards 2012 – recognition award, Nigerian music video awards (NMVA) 2011- best mainstream hip-hop video. So in total, Vector has three rap related awards.

Reminisce also known as Alaga Ibile is a prolific rapper who has not been really blessed with awards but he has serious world recognition. In 2014, Time Magazine named Reminisce as one of seven “world rappers you should meet which is huge if you ask me. With all these background information, if you are to judge, who will you accord the Best Rapper, not your best rapper which might be based on sentiments but the best rapper?
