River Plate advanced to the Club World Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan on Wednesday.
Lucas Alario secured the winner’s spot in Sunday’s final, heading in the only goal in the 72nd minute.
The forward pounced to nod a loose ball into the net after the Sanfrecce goalkeeper Takuto Hayashi made a mess of trying to claim it from a free-kick.
Marcelo Gallardo’s team will face Barcelona in the finals

Luis Suarez scored a hat trick as Barcelona thrashed Guangzhou Evergrande 3-0 to advance to the final of the Club World Cup on Thursday.
Suarez put Barcelona ahead just before halftime, hammering in a rebound off Ivan Rakitic's long-range effort that was parried by goalkeeper Li Shuai.
The striker made it 2-0 five minutes after the break when he controlled a pass from Andres Iniesta off his chest and beat Li with a brilliant right-footed volley. He put the result beyond doubt with a penalty kick after Huang Bowen took Munir El Haddadi down in the area.
The European champions were missing other star forwards Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Barcelona will face River Plate in the final on Sunday.

Twelve hours after defeating
Guangzhou Evergrande in the semi-final of the Club World Cup, FC Barcelona were back in training at the
Mitsuzawa Stadium. The players who did not start against Guangzhou were put through a more intense session than those who did.
Douglas and Messi, missed out, as did
Dani Alves with a foot injury and therefore stayed at the hotel. Neymar Jr meanwhile continued his recovery work.
The team will return to training on
Saturday afternoon in Yokohama, in what will be the last session before the final on Sunday against River Plate (11.30am CET)

Overview
River Plate reached the Club World Cup final by beating Japan's Sanfrecce Hiroshima 1-0 in the semi-final in Osaka. That victory brought a three match winless run to a halt for the South American champions, who have only found the back of the net four times in their last five matches in all competitions.

Uruguayan midfielder Camilo Mayada, who was restricted to a late substitute appearance against Hiroshima, is likely to start on the left side of midfield to contain the forward runs of Barcelona right-back Dani Alves.
Barcelona dispatched Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande with ease in the semi-final, with a Luis Suarez hat-trick powering them to a 3-0 victory. The Catalan giants are looking to win this tournament for the third time after past triumphs in 2009 and 2011.
Lionel Messi, who missed the semi-final with renal colic, did not train with his teammates on 18 December and is doubtful to play. Brazilian forward Neymar has returned to fitness after a groin injury, however, and is likely to feature.
