Mourinho Sacked!!! by Adamsdelrio(m): 4:14pm On Dec 17, 2015 |
Chelsea have sacked manager Jose Mourinho with the club 16th in the table and one point off the relegation zone. It comes just seven months after the Portuguese won Chelsea fourth, and his third, Premier League title. However, Chelsea have had a torrid season thus far, having lost nine of their opening 16 league games – the same number of defeats as the last two seasons put together. The Blues have also crashed out of the League Cup, which they also won last year as well as in 2005 and 2007. Mourinho also lifted the FA Cup in that year. It brings an end to the 52-year old’s second spell at Stamford Bridge, despite being the club’s most successful manager. Although former Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss signed a new four-year deal in the summer, both on and off-field incidents have seemingly spelt the end of his tenure. Those incidents include a long-running public saga with former physio Eva Carneiro and two separate fines and bans after open criticisms of referees Jon Moss and Robert Madley. Mourinho received a vote of confidence from club owner Roman Abramovich after a 1-3 home loss to Southampton in October. However, reports claim that after a 2-1 loss to Leicester on Monday night, which put the Foxes 20 points ahead of the Blues at the top of the table, the board reconvened and discussed potential successors and compensation packages should Mourinho be sacked. Pep Guardiola, Guus Hiddink, Brendan Rodgers, Gus Poyet and Juande Ramos have all been touted as possible successors. www.chelseanews24.com/top-stories/breaking-chelsea-sack-mourinho/ |
