The Nigerian Securi­ty and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) has urged all Nigerians to be secu­rity conscious during the Yule­tide to help any threat to their lives and national security.In a statement by its Com­mandant-General,Abdulla­hi Gana Muhammadu, the agency urged Nigeriansto re­sist the temptation of picking strange objects in their neigh­bourhood, especially attractive ones. He said that BokoHar­am insurgents had resorted to concealing Improvised Explo­sive Devices (IEDs) in attrac­tive objects to lure unsuspect­ing victims to danger.Exposing the terrorists' new modus operandi offo­cusing on soft targets hav­ing being routed from their strongholds and their capaci­ty to stage spectacular attacks weaken, the NSCDC helms­man noted that the terrorists had concentrated their attacks on soft targets, such as motor parks, schools and entertain­ment centres.Muhammadu, who stressed the fact that issues of securi­ty calls for concerted efforts, urged the mediato help man­age the threats posed by inse­curity as obtained in advanced countries."Based on this, all citizens should not only rely on secu­rity agencies for protection but should be security conscious and provide useful informa­tion to relevant security agen­cies,"With the kind of intelli­gence we receiveall citizens need to be proactive and secu­rity conscious, while the media intensify campaign on same," hesaid.
