The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) has urged all Nigerians to be security conscious during the Yuletide to help any threat to their lives and national security.In a statement by its Commandant-General,Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, the agency urged Nigeriansto resist the temptation of picking strange objects in their neighbourhood, especially attractive ones. He said that BokoHaram insurgents had resorted to concealing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in attractive objects to lure unsuspecting victims to danger.Exposing the terrorists' new modus operandi offocusing on soft targets having being routed from their strongholds and their capacity to stage spectacular attacks weaken, the NSCDC helmsman noted that the terrorists had concentrated their attacks on soft targets, such as motor parks, schools and entertainment centres.Muhammadu, who stressed the fact that issues of security calls for concerted efforts, urged the mediato help manage the threats posed by insecurity as obtained in advanced countries."Based on this, all citizens should not only rely on security agencies for protection but should be security conscious and provide useful information to relevant security agencies,"With the kind of intelligence we receiveall citizens need to be proactive and security conscious, while the media intensify campaign on same," hesaid. |
