Nigeria football Legend, Henry Nwosu MON says the absence of a creative player and a true flamboyant number 10 for the Super Eagles is baffling but tips 19-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho to fill the vacuum.

Nwosu who wore Nigeria’s iconic number 10 jersey bemoans the fact that Chelsea FC Midfielder, Mikel Obi failed to meet the expectations of the shirt he wears for the national team.

Speaking with footballlive.ng the former National team Coach implored the handlers of the team to forge Iheanacho into the idea 10 for the team.

‘ Its baffling to think we don’t have a recognizable number 10 player in the team. That position itself is difficult because it requires that you must be creative and flamboyant player.


‘ We thought Mikel would have done it, but his game obviously does not fit this role but Iheanacho looks like a prospect and he can be managed so he can grow well.

Yeah I thought so and many Ngerians will agree with the legend but the unfortunate situation is that he is not being given that role at City, and this will hamper his progress just as it did to Mikel.

It will be difficult thing to achieve , the only player can comfortably play that role "number 10 " is kelechi NWakali , kelechi Iheanacho would have been able to do it ,but his role in the club has really hampered it like what the poster above me has said ....when okocha was in the super eagles , he played the role comfortably both in the national team and at the club level . Do we really have someone presently who can shoulder the responsibilities that come with the role?

Iheanacho has been converted to a striker if you have forgotten, for this reason he can't play that creative midfield role well as he used to..

Kelechi Nwakali would be the best next option but I'm afraid the moment he signs for a big club,they will force him to play in defensive role,as he can also play as a defensive midfielder effectively,but to me he is the best option for no 10 role,he is 3 in 1 midfielder,he should be groomed for our 10 from next 2 years after U-20 tournaments

Mikel is still better than Kelechi as of today. Kelechi is not playing in Man City. 4mints play is only what he is getting from city.

We aren't quite sure if Iheanacho has lost his natural instinct to attack but one thing I know for sure is that in some of city's matches that he has featured, he has shown that he still has it in the bag.
He may end up becoming redundant because his attacking ability is not nurtured. His finishing skills is what the coaches in the Etihad are polishing.. Just as napoleon and lexyman clearly started we are looking up to Kelechi Nwakali..
