Paid Vs Free Website Hosting – The Advantages Of Each by 20dollarblogs: 8:15pm On Jan 02, 2016
One of the most important tools for branding a business is their website. A website tells the world what the company does, and also gives the public and insight into the personality of the company. The corporate culture, if you will. It is the 24/7 commercial for the company, drawing in potential customers or clients even while the doors of the business are officially closed.

Because a business website serves such a critically important purpose for a company, every decision made about that website needs to be carefully considered. The color scheme, the layout, the navigation, the text, the graphics – each one of these things needs to work in concert to give an overall impression that is favorable and accurate.

Then, there are more “behind the scenes” decisions, such as what content management system the website is going to function on, and what sort of hosting the website should use, either free hosting were paid hosting.

There are definite advantages to each decision. it is important to weigh the pros and cons of both before making the decision.
If you decide to go with free hosting, then the obvious advantage is that there is no cost involved with setting up your website. Particularly for brand-new businesses that are just starting out, costs can be a major factor. Budgets can be extremely tight, and if the business can save money on something like web hosting that they can get for free, then that can be a huge advantage when it comes to being able to spend money on other marketing efforts that will get potential customers and clients through the door. Until money starts flowing freely, it’s all about maintaining the budget to stay afloat, so that can be a huge plus in the “pro-” column of the pros and cons list for free hosting.

On the other side of the coin, there are also reasons to consider paid hosting. For instance, with paid hosting, there will be no sponsorship advertisements integrated into the text and graphics of the website by the host. With free hosting, there can be banner or pop-up ads that appear alongside your website, distracting visitors. Therefore, an advantage of using paid hosting is a cleaner and more professional appearance that gives a more polished impression of your business and does not serve to distract the user by displaying extraneous advertising that has nothing to do with the company that the website is for.

In conclusion, there are advantages and disadvantages to both free hosting and paid hosting, so which option is the best option for your company is really dictated by the needs of the company at a particular time. Is the pressing need to choose a budget friendly option, regardless of advertising that could be considered intrusive? Or is the pressing concern to present a polished and professional face to the world when representing your business? Answering those two questions will give you your answer about whether to use free or paid hosting.
