The Principle Governing The Making Of Vows by jerrydelight(m): 12:51pm On Jan 03, 2016
After the Sunday school one
beautiful Sunday morning with
topic centered on how to
experience divine favour in
another sense how to receive
favour from God, much emphasis
was laid on sacrificial giving i.e
giving that costs you something,
not just anything but something so
dear to you that you can't part
with easily.
Someone asked about making a
vow i.e waiting to receive before
giving ( giving only when one must
have received).

it actually made
sense that you can receive great
blessings from God by the reason
of your vow but the problem is in
paying the vow after receiving.
It takes a man/woman that truly
fears God pay or fulfill his vow
because we tend to easily forget the
vows we made in difficult situation
when we come out of such
situations .

God does not often respond to
request we make with Vows if we
have at hand that which we are
vowing to give when we receive
because unlike Sacrificial giving
which is based on faith, vows are
based on trust. God gives, in this
case trusting that you will fulfill
your vows so if you have what you
are vowing to give at hand but
holds back, waiting for God to act
first it means that you don't trust
God and how do you expect Him
to trust that you fulfill your vows if
you don't trust him that he will
give.

I have heard from some quarters
that the reason why they often
make vow and hold back waiting
for God to act first is because if
they fail to fulfill their vows, God
can easily take back what he has
given but if they act first and God
did not respond, they will be the
one at loss and that is the result
for the lack of trust.

God usually acts first if what you
are vowing to give is not at hand
but dependent on what you are
asking for so he gives trusting that
you will pay / fulfill your vows.
Hannah as well the Jephthah and
the other prominent men and
women that received the
blessings / favour of God because
of the vows they made, received
because what they were vowing to
give were dependent on what the
were asking.

Hannah vowed to dedicate the
child she is asking for to the
service of God all the days of his
life, she was vowing to give from
what she will be given. Jephthah's
vow was dependent on his victory,
if he had lost the battle none from
his house will come out to
welcome him i.e if he didn't perish
in the battle field. Etc
Hence in other to receive that which
you are requesting from God with a
vow, what you are vowing to give
must be be dependent on what you
are expecting to to receive. But if
you have what you are vowing to
give at hand trust God and act first
for he that putteth his trust in the
LORD shall be made fat.(Pro.
