We have withered
In the mild heat.
We have placed
Our honour,
Our dignity
On slaughter slab
To be slaughtered
And make mince,
Our courage is on flight.
Plastic guns trained
On our faces
Menance our resolve,
We stand terrified,
Shivering like drenched apes
While apostles of annulment
Jab butts
On our chattering dentitions.
Yet
We gaze skywards,
We jabber supplications
And offer libations
For de-annulment of our mandate.
