The estranged husband of Kalenjin songbird Diana Chemutai popularly known as Chelele was Thursday arraigned before a Kericho court in connection with her murder.

Mr Erick Musila, a police officer, was presented before senior Principal Magistrate George Ong’ondo.

Mr Musila, however, did not take a plea after the magistrate directed that the case be referred to Kericho High Court Judge Hedwig Ong’udi.

The officer who kept his face down and partly hidden under the hood of the purple jacket he was wearing, listened pensively and betrayed no emotion as the charges were read out to him.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday in Nakuru.

“On January 7, this year at Kapkwen within Bomet County, the accused murdered Diana Chemutai Musila alias Chelele,” read the charge sheet.

The husband was facing similar charges concerning his estranged wife's suspected boyfriend. He is basically a serial killer.
