MTN Begins Re-registration Of All Nigeria Customers by dahaz(m): 6:47pm On Jan 15, 2016 |
MTN Nigeria on Thursday said it had commenced a complete re-registration of all its more than 60 million subscribers in Nigeria. The total re-registration will be in batches , the telecoms comapany said. The operator also expressed its readiness to restore relationship with the telecoms regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) who it is currently battling in court over N1.4 trillion fine imposed on the company for customers registration infractions. The newly-appointed MTN Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Ferdi Moolman and Corporate Service Executive, Aminat Oyagbola, at joint media briefing in Lagos on Friday said the service provider wished to re-establish its engagement with all stakeholders including NCC. According to Moolman, MTN was particular about resolving the N1.4 trillion fine issue with the NCC to enable the telecommunications firm move forward. The amount, he said, was about 95 per cent of the company's total revenue for a year. Moolman explained that the falling oil prices and fluctuating foreign exchange were having a negative impact on the ability of the company to import equipment from abroad. He said: "It is really disturbing and it has become more difficult to import equipment from abroad. These two issues of falling oil prices and fluctuating foreign exchange regime are serious issues, but we have confidence in the Central Bank of Nigeria's efforts to resolve the matter." On SIM registration, Moolman said that a solid database of MTN's subscribers was key to the next phase of the telecommunications revolution, especially in the area of broadband provisioning. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/mtn-begins-re-registration-of-all-nigeria-customers/129145.html#gYpwxuCggydhDt67.99 |
