They say to love a writer is the best thing in the world

I believed them and yes they were right

Odd places I found myself writing you poems, I cared not about the business of the road

Nothing but a skinny little brat but alas in my pen I found might

To the world you are a burning star

In my world you shone brighter than a galaxy

Twinkling and beckoning like diamonds from afar

My heart always in a galloping frenzy

An eternity with you is all I wanted

But now death’s sting will I gladly welcome than to have that old wish granted

Your glory was but a mirage

Underneath your painted splendour was nothing but a filthy rag

Your crimson lips drip venomous spittle

Help! My mind is left in an unsolved puzzle

I learnt too late that all that glitters is not gold

You are but flashy metal I no longer wish to behold

Alluring daughter of Eve

Walk away now as I no longer wish to grieve

I wasted my young years on you; fascinated by your flashy hue

I tilled your land seeking to strike gold

You were never real, now I am left feeling blue

Rust, filth and mud is your mould
