This is complete rubbish! What a misplaced priority, a waste of time! What problem does that solve? To avoid touching screen? If you're too lazy to touch phone screen then quit using phone! Smart phones even have voice command capability! The guy should've devoted his time in solving real problems, for instance, building a stationary bicycle that can generate enormous electricity in one hour, that can power a home for 24 hours! So he should choose a good challenge next time. |

This technology has been around for sometime nah. Sony released the first touchless phone in 2012. That was 4years ago! The feature could also be enabled on samsung galaxy iv. i trust chinese guys to have flooded the market with the components required to make one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK8w94e9zVw http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-17367993 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCAtRNiYBmI Buy OP try sha... Nice innovation, the stand out feature is the touchless control. I think he should focus on this aspect and develop for existing phone coys. A voice commentary for the video would have been better that the background music. Good job anyway and best wishes. |

A lot of phones have numerous sensors that already provide gesture control, biko, work on Android programming to improve those. Or Gesture control devices interface with Android OS. Or improve existing voice control Or..... We could go on and on.... |

I888: An invention is a unique or novel device, method, composition or process. The invention process is a process within an overall engineering and product development process. It may be an improvement upon a machine or product, or a new process for creating an object or a result. I am very correct with my choice of word sir! |
Re: Uniben Student Builds Touchless Phone From Scratch by I888(m): 11:58am On Jan 25, 2016 |
mcpat:Bros, INVENTION is when you create something that has never been in existence before by history. Those things you write na grammar. This guy in this question didn't INVENT anything going by my own understanding of the word "invention". Gesture control has been in existence LONG before now. I know this because I am a member of an international platform where things like this get discussed even before it hits the Nigerians shore. Virtual Reality will be hitting the market harder this year with the likes of Oculus Rift by facebook, Samsung VIVE, Google Cardboard etc but when a Nigerian goes to an online store to purchase components and couple them, people like you will scream INVENTION. Drones just started entering Nigeria last year and even meanwhile we had been discussing about long before that. As usual, some guys went to online shops, bought already made and many Nigerians screamed "INVENTION". You can couple many of this things if you know what MODULAR means bro. With modular technology, you can couple ANY PHONE, ANY TV, ANY GADGET bro. |
