✞ Is Salvation “Really” a Free Gift?
.
Salvation is a free gift of God
brought to us by his grace through faith alone in Jesus and his shed blood, death, and resurrection from the grave as the sole condition that's needed to be saved. –
Eph.1.7; Ro.1.16; 1Cor.15.1-4.
.
In fact, since universal death
entered the human race through
Adam, no one can obtain salvation
unless they are saved from the
penalty of sin and receive the "gift" of eternal life in Christ.
.
No degree of reformation however great, no attainment of morality however high, no culture however attractive, no baptism or any other type of religious rituals or practices however administered, can help mankind, born sinful, to take even one small step toward heaven.
.
A new position has to be imparted
from above at the very moment of faith in Jesus Christ, his shed blood, death and resurrection and His promise of give eternal life to all who solely believe-[trust-in] in Him.
.
Not only must we believe in the
*true Jesus*, but we must also
have true faith in what he did to
save you. (Ro.1:16)
.
In theology we talk about two
kinds of faith: ascentia and fiducia.
Ascentia is nothing more than
''mental acknowledgment''.
.
The devil, for example,
acknowledges that God exists
(James 2:19). But he does not have fiducia. That is, he does not have a *trusting faith* in Jesus and what he did to save us.
.
Therefore, believing (to trust in;
rely upon) in Jesus is enough to be
saved, BUT we must believe that
Jesus is God and flesh, that he shed his blood, died on a cross and rose from the tomb to save you.
(Ep.1:7,Ro.1:16,1Cor.15:1-4)
