The disadvantages of these mobile courts by far out-weighs its merits; kindly folllow my analogy as follows;
1: modus operandi of the court_ most of the defendants before mobile court are those arresteed by Task Force, Lastma, Kai, or Or anybody wearing a green uniform in Lagos state.
Offenses ranges from loitering, wandering, (or returning from club in the late night) street trading, hawking etc. If you get arrested by any of these people for absolutely any reason, regardless of who you are, how you are dressed or being in possession of a valid I'd card_ __ they will bundle you onto their Blackmaria.

2 Mobile Court Proceedings
The summary nature of the court means that immediately the Registrar reads your offence to you and you plead guiltyn the court have the power to convict and then sentence you accordingly without the need for an adjournment or a trial.
What actually happens is that upon being arrested and charged you have a choice of plea: you either plead "Guilty" or '' Not Guilty''
-if you plead not guilty; that means you have challenged the person (authority) that arrested you to proove that you actually committed the alleged offence. In that case you will be granted bail in a certain amount (say 40k) and then ordered to be remanded in prison custody till your bail is perfected. Then your case will be adjourned to another date and you will be TAKEN to PRISON
-where you plead guilty _ that is to say you agree with the court that you actually committed the offence - then the court will summarily (that is immediately ) pass its judgment ... That the accused person is hereby found GUILTY of commission of the offence of .....
Then the Magistrates ask for an Allocutus if you have a lawyer and wwhere you don't have a lawyer she (yes they are mostly women) ask you what you have to say (to convince her that she should not punish with maximum punishment according to the law?--- irrespective of what you or your lawyer says at this point the court will proceed to pass its SENTENCE against you: typically the sentences in mobile court ranges from a couple of hours of community service to a couple of months in prison !
If you get 500 hours of community work, then you are lucky my grouse is getting even the smallest or shortest prison term! Now when you are convicted and sentenced to prison wirth an option of fine ranging from 5k to 50k.
To pay the fine your family or lawyer willl spend not less that 24 hours in the mean time, you will commence service of your jail term.
In effect the Mobile Court is the fastest way to unjustifiedy churn out ex-convicts amongst Nigerian youths in Lagos State and irreparably denting their future which the state ought to nuture at all cost.
