What skills can someone learn here in Nigeria to help him get a good job in the US?

You could learn sewing and/or hairdressing. You could make a decent wage doing those things here. However, most states would require you to obtain a license before working as a hairdresser.

hair braiding is an easy one. An African hair braider can make about $65-200USD per person. You generally don't need a liscense just to braid. Sewing is a good one but you won't have a steady stream of income on sewing clothes. Cake decorating if you are very good at it. A wedding cake in the USA starts at about $75 and can get up to $1000USD easily. French speaking and become a french tutor or teacher. Anything in the healthcare field. Start as a CNA and work and school your way up to a Nurse. CNA will start with like $10 USD per hour. A Nurse can make up to $25-40 USD per hour.

IT and programming is OK but I think the market is saturated with them plus you will be competing with the Indians and Asians who pretty much dominate that field. But I think they make maybe 40-70 USD per hour
