Students of Yaba college of technology are currently protesting the death of a final year food technology female student just two weeks to the second semester exams. Reports has it that she died due to the negligence of the school medical centre.


As at the time of writing, the school gates has been closed, nobody is allowed in or out unless you have to scale through.

Gbenga Adebayo (not real name) has this to say; "The school medical centre is messed up, when we go there for common treatments, the medical attendants will tell us to go and buy drugs as cheap as paracetamol outside. The girl that died went there for treatment, they did not attend to her properly. Now that she's dead they are claiming that she's a sickler. If we don't protest, things like this would continue"

Another student says "The stress here is too much, when we get sick, they won't provide treatment and we pay for medical bills in our school fee. She's dead now and they are saying she suffered from sickle cell.

The deceased sister who is also a student of the school claims that her sister is not a sickle cell carrier that the school is just using that to cover up.

The protestants are agitating that they won't stop till the rector or any senior officer comes to address the issue. As at the time of reporting, no school official has come to address the students.
