Using of index released by WAEC as a yard to measure success in education in each region is very wrong and it can never be use as a medium. Success in education can not be measure based on statistics released by examination bodies like WAEC, NECO, JAMB .et.c. The statistics did not show the true fact of what is on ground or the reality. Nigeria is a country where things are manipulate easily by going through the back doors. Nigerians are aware of the special centres, where examination malpractice is carried out. With the alarming rate of examination malpractice, the government enacted what is called Examination Malpractice Act - which stipulate 21 years imprisonment for whosoever caught in examination malpractice
I read it in one of the dailies that over four hundred special centres were shut down in Anambra State by the state government. Statistics from WAEC, JAMB, NECO, can not be use as a measurement due to level of examination malpractices in Nigeria irrespective of regions. Though, there are few out of the students that their examination result really reflect the ability.
If WAEC statistics is used as yard stick, does the majority of students from the region that top the WAEC statistics or index maintain this form of excellence to the tertiary institution?
If statistics from examination bodies like WAEC, NECO, JAMB can be used as a yard stick to rank region on literacy level, can it also be use, the index of university ranking in Nigeria done by bodies concern with educational matters within and outside Nigeria to measure the literacy level. Universities from particular region always top the list.
Assessment of brilliancy or literacy level in Nigeria can not be based only on the primary or secondary...but also to tertiary institution level...
If we are to based achievement or success in education matters on statistics ... then the best and proper parameter to use should be statistics on university ranking in Nigeria because at the tertiary level, malpractice is a grievous crime... If a student use a crook means to scale through the hurdle of WAEC /NECO, JAMB such student do meet his/her water loo in the Post-UTME, the reality is down on such students when he or she is eventually admitted
If students in south eastern part of the country probably the south southern too, can achieve such excellence in WAEC , what is stopping them to repeat such at the tertiary level in their region?
Statistics from examination bodies can never be used as a parameter...

If we are to agree with the op and use the capacity of individuals to express themselves in correct and simple English, and if the op is to represent his region what will be clear is the fact that the region producing such half-baked graduates like the op is doomed already. No single sentence in the above writeup is correct. I challenge whoever can to prove me wrong.
Nota bene. Such statistics as published by the Punch is not a proof of intellectual superiority of any group or region but rather an indictment on their leaders tivdo the right thing. Such statistics point out to us, in clear terms, the dangers that lie ahead for all of us.
