MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (Reuters) - Two female suicide bombers killed more than 60 people at a camp for people displaced by an insurgency of the jihadist Boko Haram group in the northeast Nigerian town of Dikwa, military and emergency officials said on Wednesday.


The attack occurred 85 km (50 miles) outside the capital of Borno state, centre of the seven-year insurgency, they said. It took place on Tuesday, but a breakdown in the telephone system prevented the incident being made public earlier.
The two female suicide bombers sneaked into an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp and detonated themselves in the middle of it, emergency officials and the military source said.


The chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, Satomi Ahmad, added that 78 people were injured.


No group claimed responsibility but the attack bore the hallmarks of Boko Haram, which has frequently used female bombers and even children to hit targets.

The militant group has recently increased the frequency and deadliness of attacks with three at the end of January. At least 65 people were killed outside Borno state capital Maiduguri on Jan. 31.

Since it lost territory to a government counter-offensive last year, Boko Haram has reverted to hit-and-run attacks on villages and suicide bombings at places of worship or markets.

Boko Haram has only rarely targeted camps housing people displaced by the conflict and Tuesday's attack was the first one to kill victims in Borno state.


The military said militants made one abortive attempt on a camp on the outskirts of Maiduguri on Jan. 31. Boko Haram hit a Nigerian IDP camp for the first time last September, in the Adamawa state capital of Yola.

So tragic!


With the rate these suicide bombings are happening, the NorthEast may never recover economically and socially.

When a senator who is from that State and belongs to APC said this government is lying with this boko haram issue, they said he was the one lying. When people who had played politics with this, keep playing same politics with things as bad as this then you know your life means nothing to them and being their zombie means you deserve no pity for any misfortune they bring to you. May the Soul of the departed rest in peace.

A nairalander once posted here that one of his friends in the north one day told him that Buhari has achieved in a very short time what Goodluck could not achieve in years. He asked what that achievement is? The guy said; Buhari has defeated Boko Haram. The nairalander guy told him that is great. Within a Month, the guy called again mourning that Boko Haram has killed his Uncle. The nairalander guy told him that Buhari has defeated Boko Haram and dropped the call. That is the effect of falling prey to propaganda and being their zombie, you lose your life and they laugh at you and even uses it for another propaganda making those who supposed to sympathise with you to desert you.

This is really disturbing, when some lie says that military are using substandard weapons that gave boko idiots the strength to attack and kill without fear thinking that substandard weapons military are using can't kill them. you see how the so call politicians can indirectly send information to his boko animals . Any politicians the his actions or words directly or indirectly assist boko animals in causing or killing innocent lives will live to suffer and disgrace in this life and beyond.
