High Rate Of Car Burgling The Abuja by akopac: 4:33pm On Feb 19, 2016
So yesterday i was robbed of my bag which contained my HP elitebook G1 worth 230k, My international passport, Voters card, Newly acquired new age power bank 7k, newly acquired iphone charger 5k, My friends house key, documents, ID's and other valuables.
How it happened; My friend picked me up late in night and we went to a restaurant in Asokoro by UBA, J&T restaurant/Jethro pharmacy. Packed the car outside and i left my laptop bag in the back sit (My biggest mistake). Got into the restaurant and sat down and placed my order. 10 mins later i got the car keys and went to the car to remove my power bank since my phone battery drained. That was when i met my nightmare. The car was burgled and they carted away with my belongings. It's a rampant occurrence here in the city of abuja. It happened to kpozo last year in area 8, it happened to my boss still last year in International conference center and it was my turn. Till it happens to you, you don't know how it feels. The pathetic things is that there was a mobile police man stationed there, also in one of the pictures have attached you will see a white pole with surveillance cameras onnit, a contract worth billions on dollars that was executed by the federal government but has never functioned not for once and now all my life work, memories, sensitive documents GONE!! Why do bad things always happen to good people? well Shit happens..
So the police man stationed there was approached and the incident reported to him and all he could say was "Kai! them don dey time me" Imagine that!! He now said i should go report the case first thing in the morning to the police in Asokoro division.
I wouldn't have wasted my time cause even though am still hopeful for a miracle, the fact still remains that my properties GONE!! the last time i went to the police station was like 10 years ago to collect school bursary but i had to because my International passport was involved. I will need to present a police clearance/extract when applying for a replacement which cost 50k. So i went to the police station with print out of my passport and pictures of the incidence. I approached the female officer by the entrance and reported the case to her and she was like "eyaaah sorry", she was quiet friendly, the other female officer was like "we have been saying this things, put your belongings in the booth" bla bla bla..
She now called on 2 officers to attend to me and take my report and they were like they're very busy, till one female officer now reluctantly attended to me.
After dillydallying for a little while she now told me that Police extract will cost me money and in my mind i was like no be una again. Asked me how much i have and i told her 2k. She was like nah, not enough but then took my report and requested for the car that was burgled to be brought in for inspection which i still paid money separately to snap pictures. As in i came with well printed copies of the car but it wasn't obtainable as they still had to call a road side photographer to come and take photos of the car. I don't have words for Nigerian Police sha..
So finally i am supposed to "add something" whenever the police extract is ready.
So guys take caution from my unfortunate experience else same thing that befell me who didn't take caution from my kpozo's experience will happen to you. Even though one can neva be too careful but let it be that you tried so you mutter less of "Had i known". Watch where you park your car. If you can go around with your valuables then carry it with you if not hide them properly and keep them out of sights from this hell bound scavengers. Also if you are a car owner ensure your passenger keeps their belongings away from sight else your car will be wrecked because of someone else property.
Till it happens to you, you don't know how it feels
