simply download root checker from playstore and it will tell u whether you are rooted or not.

Rooted my camon and enjoying it AF

1. You void ur warranty once rooted.
2. Risk of bricking ur phone: I know some people will say rooting does not brick a phone, but why do people that create the rooting programs give a warning that they are not responsible for bricking ur device if u use the program? The risk is always there. Also a lot of people root because they want to flash custom Roms. Now flashing a ROM with corrupted files will lead to soft or even hard brick.

3.Poor performance: some people will argue against this, but some people flash their phones because they want to tweak and over clock their CPU, this is good when u know what u are doing. Several users have found that, in their attempts to speed up the phone or add additional features, that their phones lost both performance speed. U can end up frying ur CPU if u are into tweaking and overclocking without knowing what u are doing.

4. Risk of virus: when u flash a custom ROM that is infected, automatically u are infecting ur device with virus and malware. Whenever you make changes to the code of a software, you run the risk of introducing a virus.

5. Inability to get updates via ota, if u went update u either unroot or flash the ROM urself.

Of course u can avoid all these risks if u only intend to use apps that require root access and not into flashing or over clocking. Flashing can become addictive.

Its not only to flash rom that you need root. The disadvantage I know is that you won't be able to use OTA updates.
