I just couldn't stand it such bizzarre, rotten sight To say I was stunned would be an understatement..I was walking home from a viewing centre in Idunwele Ewu of Edo state It was probably about 11:02pm, the street was empty..shops had closed I saw off a friend after the game so folks had gone home by the time I was on my way back. Then I got the shocker! A little boy about 8 years old was being chased about with a stick by an elderly man whom I later found out was the boys father, he was taunting the boy, calling him a witch and all of that arrant nonsense..poor boy runs to a group of men close by and one of 'em grabs a stick and hits this poor boy calling him a witch as well and they are laughing having a good time. God I couldn't stand it I went berserk and I seize this old man and yell some sense into his head oldage is no excuse to be stupid and unreasonable I tell him if this child is a witch as you ignorantly claim why isn't he flying already its almost 12am why hasn't he plotted with his fellow wizards to eliminate your old bones, you call yourself a christain and treat a child like this! Are you even human? when you were banging away on his mother did you have an wizard in mind?..he confronts me pouring his petulance standing towards me. He goes back to his compound and makes to shut the gate and keep the poor boy out who is already weeping by this time half of the town are outside watching...I grab the padlocks from the oldman and fetch the boy to get in the house then the oldman opens up telling me how he has spent so much treating the boy in a mental hospital blah..blah..blah then if thats the case why brand the poor child a witch when he's clearly mentally unstable. He finally lets the boy in and I leave. A few minutes I hear him yelling that the child has run out through the back door..I've had enough already and its really late now..obviously the poor boy has brain problems and the constant beatings and malnourishment he's been getting probably has led him to living his life in constant fear..what can I say I'm not a psychiatrist.. As an adult, I think about this and see so many things wrong with this level of insanity. How does someone process the thought of confronting a freaking eight year-old about being a witch and then proceed to make his life miserable. Nigerians please stop this madness what happened to LOVE why blame your infirmity on a poor child and tag them as witches and wizards what in the world is wrong with Africans? It is left unanswered why exactly the witch-branding is usually targeted at children. As far as I am concerned, this deep belief in witchcraft is another form of religious fundamentalism. It allows people to not evaluate their own lives and provides them with a convenient scapegoat for all their sufferings/actions. If this level of ignorance was benign, maybe I would just say. “ignore it,” but the truth is that it is dangerous. It has destroyed, it is destroying, and will continue to destroy lives if left unchecked. The destructive evidence is all around us. I may be biased due to personal experience, but witchcraft, coven-ism, secret society, and ogbanje-ism are all one big farce. There is no spiritual attack of cancer/other illnesses on anyone. Nobody is flying on a broomstick at night. Nobody is changing into any animal and crawling around at night. Defenseless children are not witches that are bringing bad luck to the family. People that are clearly mentally ill are not witches.
This brand of fanaticism is a madness that we must work diligently to eradicate. angry

Most Nigerian brain need formatting blaming their shortcomings on witchcraft no wonder they troop to the church and witch doctor because of the fear of the unknown

as much as i believe in witches and wizards I don't believe isolating, beating and starving them is the solution. in fact of makes the matter worse. we Neva saw Jesus physically fighting a spiritual battle. in fact most times he showed those possessed with demons 'compassion'. sometimes I wonder if Nigerians have their own version of the bible like the 'New Nigerian translation' smh

Did you see the video of the lady who claimed she comes from the sea and she was the one who murdered Michael Jackson. Imagine how cheap that stunt is...
That's how gullible and petty Nigerians are.
Any word that comes from a prophet, or spiritualist is final.
