The National Youth Service Corp NYSC has resolved to commence posting of youth corp members to North East, its Director General Brig-Gen Johnson Bamidele Olawuni has said.

Speaking with Daily Trust in Katsina, Olawuni said "you will agree with me that insurgency has been reduced drastically and based on our assessment Gombe is certain to get from this batch A.
"We are looking at Adamawa if not this Batch A but the next batch. But certainly, I pray by the end of this year Borno and Yobe will get corp members posted there," he said.

"The unfortunate thing is that , some of these states have some of the best facilities. We have missed going to those states and my staff also to conduct orientations in them," he added.

He said, about 260,000 corp members are expected to be mobilised this year saying that efforts are ongoing to ensure they are adequately captured by finance ministry and that of planning to avoid what happened last year when there were challenges .

On corp welfare, Olawuni chided 26 states for owing corp members allowances and vowed to publish the affected states in national dailies saying that it is the statutory responsibility of states to pay the corp members to aid in their transportation and up keep.

According to him, it is appalling and disheartening to note that some states are owing up to two years of such allowances adding that "we consider the welfare of our corp members paramount."

He said, the service is considering not posting corp members to states with deplorable state of facilities for camping adding that the states' camps are not habitable and fit for humans.

The nitwit said insurgency has been "reduced drastically", so it's now safe to post corpers to those states.
Someone should let him know that you don't need dozens of Boko guys to commit mass slaughter. Just a single guy sneaking into any NYSC lodge at night with an AK47 is enough to put helpless parents and the nation into deep agony.

Many of these corp members might end up in remote parts of the states where military presence isn't much, and their NYSC uniform will provide a very attractive target.
I hope parents and intending Youth Corps members protest against this. Insurgency is far from over. Since these demons can no longer go toe to toe with the military, they have resorted to taking on soft targets. NYSC members are the sweetest soft targets you can present them with.
