Coach Sunday Oliseh announced his resignation as Coach of the Super Eagles via a Twitter post on Friday morning, over allegations of unpaid wages, poor welfare and contract violations.

Although there have been several grudges and differences between the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the Coach in recent weeks, no one expected the Ex-Super Eagles Player and Coach to quit just after seven months, and more so on social media.

It’s obvious that the back and forth approach of the NFF towards solving problems and meeting the demands of the technical crew may have resulted to this as Coach Oliseh had been in a fallout with the NFF Glass House for several weeks.

It is worthy of note that the parting of ways was inevitable due to the brewing sour relationship between both parties. The NFF had been fed up with Coach Oliseh, especially after releasing a Viral Video rant, where he described the NFF as “Insane”.

In fact according to a highly-placed Sports official, Coach Sunday Oliseh was sacked immediately after his witty Video outburst. But before the announcement could be made to the general public, the Nigerian Sports Minister intervened and revoked the decision.

According to @thecableng who contacted the official source after Coach Sunday Oliseh announced his resignation, he said

“When he was sacked, the minister said no. Hope the minister can see it now,”
“Nigeria has a very crucial game in March and Oliseh was saying he won’t be in Nigeria till March 10. Egypt is busy preparing for that game while we are busy bickering and talking about what is not.” He also revealed that Oliseh waited to collect his salary arrears of N20million as well as all other remunerations due to him, before quickly resigning.

The Nigerian Coach was however fined $3000 for his video and sacked his personal assistant which the Super Eagles Coach later re-hired under his responsibility. And to add salt to injury, The NFF Board went further to announce that the chief coach of the Super Eagles will now be reporting to the NFF technical director, Ahmed Shuaibu.

All these coupled with the recent resignation of the most valuable Super Eagles player and goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama as well as worries over his Coaching experience and pressure from the NFF, contributed to Coach Sunday Oliseh’s Resignation.
