Raymond Tomlinson, aka Ray, the man who made it possible for us to send online messages known as email, has died of apparent heart attack at 74. Tomlinson invented the possibility to send email in 1971 and he did with the @ symbol in email addresses, which is now standard. He died on Satueday March 5, 2016. He made the ground-breaking invention while working in Boston as an engineer for research company Bolt, Beranek and Newman.
