million she made from sex trafficking.

– Lizzy Idahose was jailed in 2014 in the UK for human
trafficking and various other offences.

A woman jailed for trafficking Nigerian women into the UK
to work in the sex industry has been ordered to pay back
more than £21,000 (nearly N6 million).

Lizzy Idahosa, 26, was sentenced to eight years in jail in
2014 after being found guilty of human trafficking.
A confiscation order to seize the funds has been granted
at a court in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, under
the proceeds of crime act.

The trial’s judge said Idahosa forced her victims to live in
hell


The money must be paid back within 28 days or she faces
a further nine month prison sentence.
During the original trial, the jury heard the trafficked
women worked in brothels to repay Idahosa £50,000 (just
over N14 million) for travel from Nigeria and false
documents.


Both victims, who could not be named for legal reasons,
said that before travelling to London on the promise of a
better life, they had been subjected to juju rituals to make
them afraid of disobeying her.

Idahosa was also found her guilty of inciting prostitution
and money laundering.


Following the confiscation order, Gemma Williams, from
Immigration Enforcement’s Financial Investigation Unit,
said: “Idahosa was prepared to take advantage of her
victims’ vulnerability and desperation for her own financial
gain, but her greed has not paid off.


“In addition to her hefty prison sentence, she has now
been ordered to pay back money she took from her
victims.”


Nigerians are often trafficked to the UK under false
pretences and are then forced into prostitution or slavery
to benefit their abusers.

Two weeks ago, a Nigerian mental health nurse working in
the UK was convicted of using juju magic to coerce a
women into sex work.
