What's the need buying a 5 year old car worth N1.6 million and paying 50% custom duty (800K) making it about N2.4 million.

It's then better to buy a "Tear Rubber"

I am biased , but my question is how many Nigerians can honestly afford a =N=2.4 million car, first we don't manufacture car in Nigeria so there is no industry to protect.

There are people in Nigeria who can not afford any car that is more than 1mil Naira, what should they do Now?, A nigerian communication minister was once quoted as saying "Telephone is not for the poor" I guess this is another way of saying "Car is only for the super rich"

One thing is guaranteed with this plan, republic of Benin will see a lot of business and make more money from import duty on this same cars that will ultimately end up in Nigeria anyway.
