It all seems like a break up between the twin sensation, Peter and Paul of Psquare is imminent, perhaps it is too early to discuss such since all that has rented the air concerning the Okoyes of recent is nothing but bad blood.

The twin sensation has held music lovers spellbound for well over a decade. With the release of Senorita way back, everyone had a glimpse they were not like the regulars who would "shine" for five years and disappear with no trail eventually. They had come to stay and they meant it.

Psquare's signature way back was their rigorous dance steps which many found intriguing, but it soon tired ever adventurous Nigerians who felt all the support could do was dance, dance and dance. There was a pattern however, and it was well shared among the duo; Paul, the more quiet one is the group's vocalist and singing sensation while Peter, the show off, was more inclined to dancing his heart out.

The interesting thing is; Paul is relegated in the music videos when he comes to dancing. You could count how many times the camera focus on him in such songs as Peter and his group take the day. The glory at the end of the day goes to Psquare even when Paul fails to move in a sleeky fashion as the group. Rumours have it that the former sprained his ankle during a dance rehearsal which had prevented his moves till date. Call it musical injury.

Peter, on the other hand, had long been stripped of pride as an artiste, as all he does is to lip sync verses and sometimes chorus, when in the real sense of it, Paul sings the entire track. Simply put, Paul owns the songs, Peter owns some videos, not all, because he is always instructed to play the role of a sexy model (no homo) whose major goal is to "flash" his abs and wow the ladies, as long as the duo choose to go the way of R&B.

The vocal dexterity of the duo are never the same. In earliest times, as far back as 2000/2001 when the twin made their debut album, "Last Night" Peter practically didn't gel as expected. "Get Squared", "Game Over", "Danger" and "The Invasion" all pointed to one person as the heart and brain of the group - Paul.

Nigerians had long been tired of seeing the duo dance, and the demands for more content (beat inclusive), music-wise is on the rise. It is only a matter of time before the likes of Inyanya, Flavour, D'banj and Peter realize that music lovers care less about the unclothedness they tend to exhibit on stage. It would indeed be an eyesore to see Peter perform alone on stage, knowing fully well that he is always restless and energetic, particularly when it involves a dance performance.

Paul may have made the first move by birthing his new record label, Rudeboy Record, amidst family issues, and Peter's recent "body flashing" show in Abuja is only a pointer that we may never have Psquare back over irreconcilable differences. "Mr P", as Peter is now known has resolved to branding "Mr P Peanut", which is now trending on Instagram. The move is all too familiar, reminds one of D'banj and his "koko garri".

Although Jude, their brother and one of the duo's backbone to stardom has made it clear he no longer has anything to do with the group, he still remains a close ally of Paul who chose to remain with him, rather than stick to his twin brother. While Clarence Peters is still available for Peter to use, Jude Okoye's brilliance in collaboration with that of Clarence Peters, which has helped the duo's achieve more visual successes in their pieces over the years will now be exclusive to Paul.

Psquare as a group may suffer for it at the long run, but Peter as an individual would pay more if he is to rely on abs showing and dance steps alone. Paul, through the group has proven to be a great collaborating artiste overtime, and it wouldn't change much should he decide to return to the scene as a solo artiste.

Perhaps this piece is a little too early, we can only hope they find common grounds and come back together.

NB: This piece is solely the opinion of the OPgrin

They both need each other, none of them will be able to make it alone after d split. Paul okoye is not d only brain behind psquare success, peter is underated mean while he also writes songs. But personally i think they have taken things too far by not resolving their issues, that shows how immatute they are. Well now i know money is not everything. I agree, they both need each other and it would be awkward seeing videos of their songs as solo artistes, because the world knew the duo the same day and they have achieved their successes together. Peter has never been underrated, he is the favourite among most ladies due to his "catchy" lifestyle. That in itself is enough. Peter write songs but not as half as Paul writes. Paul sings almost all their songs, while Peter is left to lip sync even in videos.

the thing tire me ah swear, this guys have gone past the peak of their musical career, why do this now?.
the audio made by paul (call heaven) actually says it all,he was the talent behind P-square and should have been the one willing to break off,but then pointing out who was the better would only create more problems.

Either we point it out or not, the truth stands. There was a time it was rumoured that Lola, Peter's wife felt Paul was holding the Psquare brand all by himself and Peter was being relegated, which is not entirely true.
