NBBF reorganizes Nigerian Basketball League
Dodan Warriors and Lagos Islanders have been suspended from the Nigerian Basketball League – One team will be on standby while other teams face each other twice in three days at the same venue – Rivers Hoopers coach says the new development by NBBF is favourable Following the elimination of Dodan Warriors and Lagos Islanders from the basketball league the Nigeria Basket Ball Federation (NBBF) has re-organized fixtures for the new basketball season. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Action during a basketball league game The decision was taken after the teams participated in the Africa Basket Ball League without the consent of the NBBF. Only five teams will slug it out in the Atlantic Conference this season which includes; River Hoopers, Delta Force, Oluyole Warriors, Kwara Falcons and Customs of Lagos. This means while others teams are competing against each other twice every week one team will be on standby. Coach Ogo Dauduwa of the Rivers State team said that he is in support of the NBBF’s initiative. He said: “I think it is better for the teams to be playing that way because playing one game a week and then not playing again in another week is bad. “I think the two-game a week is far better that means we don’t have to wait too long in between games. “But it was actually done like that too so that we could finish on time because of the Olympics. We will cope and it’s far better off for us too because it also reduces our risk of travelling. “Instead of travelling all the way from Lagos to play one game we will play two games before we come back,” he concluded. In the other week, Kwara Falcons will take on Oluyole Warriors as Delta Force stands by. *Report sent in by Akan Anwankwo
