Part Time Assistant, HSE Engineering and Management

INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
ESSOH-Engineering and Managers is a private HSE Engineering and Management Consulting and Advocacy Company. It operates more within the Oil and Gas Industry and executes HSE studies and engineering design works for clients which bother on HSE risk management. It is located in Lagos at 10, Ibiere Crescent, Apapa, Lagos, Lagos State Nigeria. The company currently have some environmental studies to execute and requires the assistance of an interested Environmental Science graduate/undergraduate who is highly conversant with Environmental Sciences, and HSE Management and Engineering.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The job is strictly on a part-time basis. Remuneration is on a job by job basis based on achieved milestones. It is not expected that this position is held forever. It is for applicants who are brilliant enough to know that regular practice moves a professional towards perfection. It is better suited to young graduates and interns of the Environmental Sciences and HSE disciplines. Currently, activities will involve


-Review of companies' environmental, safety, security and occupational health management systems
-Preparing a report on companies performance based on SMART HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
-Embarking on field work and baseline data collection and collation exercises for both primary and secondary data
-Analyses and statistical reviews and presentation of data on HSE information for various companies
-Preparation/Writing of Reports (EIAs, AERs, EERs,)
-Presentation of reports and data using Power Point

REPORTING LINE

Applicant shall report to the appropriate manager supervising any task delegated. All tasks are supervised by a Task Supervisor/Manager based on company's decision. The major contributory reason for the company selecting a Task Supervisor/Manager is their area of expertise and professional experience.

REMUNERATION

Average remuneration per job is 145 Dollars at today's value (about 50 Thousand Naira). The duration of a job varies from 3 weeks (e.g. AER Studies) to about 1 year (for EIAs). EIAs are more on a mile stone basis and attracts field allowances. In the event that field trips are residential, the company will foot accommodation and transportation bills while offering a daily field allowance.

However, the specific job currently being undertaken by the company is on a short turn around time basis of about 3 Weeks.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

-Degree in Environmental Sciences and its sub disciplines.
-HSE Proficiency/professional qualifications like ISPON (NISP) HSE Level 2/3, NEBOSH IGC etc will be appreciated

Applicants are expected to:

- Be well grounded in Environmental Sciences and HSE Management
- Be proficient in report writing. Aspects, chapters and parts of various reports are usually delegated
- Be proficient in MS Office suite and packages, especially Word and Excel
- Be able to read reports and extract methodologies and principles to be replicated
- Be able to keep confidential information on the HSE Performance of companies until they are published as public documents

1. A Terms of Reference and Scope of Work for an EIA Study (Petrol Station):

2. A Terms of Reference and Scope of Work for an EIA Study (Fuel Dump/Storage Facility of a Large Hotel in Lagos):

3. Terms of Reference and Scope of Work for EIA Study (Proposed LPG Plant):

4. Completion of an EIA Study Report for A Proposed Gas Plant including using QRA Software. Instructions on the software etc shall be provided.

Interested persons (Corp Members, Fresh Graduates, Interns or Professionals) should have an Environmental/Physical/Natural Science Background and/or Experience in HSE Sciences, Engineering and Management. To have participated in an Environmental Impact Assessment Study shall be considered as added advantage.
