RESEARCH – Food Scientist
GOAL
Develop a comprehensive and standardized database of all Nigerian foods.
Data must include:
• Nutrition information such as calorie count
• Local (modified) unit of measurement
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Laboratory analysis of different foods for calorie content
• Create a plan to collect data for all Nigerian foods
• Conduct interviews with different entities in the food industry to gather data
• Connect with dietitian and nutritionist to gather more standardized data
• Evaluate the data collected in order to determine the calorie composition and nutrition information
• Record and present data collected in local standard unit of measurement (e.g one okele of Amala)
• Record all feedback and other related duties and responsibilities
• Maintains required records; compiles and prepares scheduled and periodic reports
SKILLS REQUIRED
• Has experience in the food industry or working towards a degree in Nutrition/Food Science
• Can do attitude
• Is comfortable with curating and making sense of large sets of data
• Has good critical thinking skills and can reason and apply logic to problem solving
• Listens fully to others when they are speaking, asking questions when necessary and understanding
• Can effectively speak to others
• Can understand and comprehend written documents
• Can work with Microsoft suite application
