I really need someone in the house to educate me on this. I was in ladipo today to do some maintenance on my car and alsso change my brake pad, but my mechanics advice I go for tokunnbo pads that it's better than most new ones as they are fake and produce some unwanted noise once they are hot/entered water.
Unfortunately, they couldn't get the pad for my 2009 camry that it's scarce n not easy to come by, hence the Igbo guy(trusted part seller) suggested I convert it to 2.4 camry brake pad and disk as that is easy to get.
My question now is:
1. Can it be converted?
2. Won't there a problem/issue later on the braking system?
3. Which camry is 2.4?
Please I need an expert opinion to enable me make an inform decision.

Even the '07 Camry (muscle) and subsequent ones are also 2.4 except the V6 variants. If the conversion is well carried out it should be OK. You need to consult with your mechanic, though.

It beats me o. Is dt not utter stupidity? Nigerians always trying to cut corners. Cutting corners will soon cut his life short.
To d OP, my advice to u, DON'T ever modify ur car to cut corners. If u so much want to buy used pads but can't get, keep using the available one while u make better arrangements for the better one. That should be the original new one, if u as me.

Rather than spend all the time and effort in trying to do a quack conversion that you cannot guarantee it will work, why don't you go to ELIZADE or other Toyota dealership and buy a brand new original pads intended for your vehicle?

The people that designed the car know why it was designed differently. Toyota will not go thru the effort of using another design if the old design on the 2.4 will do

And Toyota like using similar parts and engine on lots of their cars. You can find similar parts on Camry, Avensis, Prado etc.

TOYOTA IS THE KING OF PARTS INTERCHANGEABILITY.

They will use old pads if it will do. DO NOT DO SOMETHING YOU WILL REGRET!!!!

Not that I intentionally want to buy a tokunbo pads (infact I don't subscribe to used pad, shocks,linkage etc) but the problem is the unwanted noise that emanate from new brake pads.

Moreso, I vehemently refused to convert it without consulting my peeps here first for better advice.

As you have all advice that I shouldn't convert the brake system, I will not and manage the unwanted noise like that.

My brother, u can still find brand new original brake pads, both within and outside Ladipo market.

There are peeps who also specialise in importing Japanese car parts from the US.

Don't attempt to modify your brakes as u stated, ur car braking system would never feel the same. I'm talking out of experience.
