I hv bn using my hp530 centrino,intel core,1.6ghz,120gb hdd,1024mb ram window vista for 8mths nw. But i dnt like the laptop now bcus of its snail speed of processing and stuffs like that. Cn someone prescribe to me what i wl b looking on in choosing my desired laptop. Should the brandname matter? What abt the hard disk capacity,the ram,vista or xp?
I just need the one that is durable and a good speed in processing.

why don't you simply increase the ram of your system.?

Or buy whatever you can afford? Laptops cost anywhere from 85k to 350k. I'm sure you will find good ones at both ends of the range.

goy madam a 2ghz amd, 160gb 512 mb nvidia 3gb ram machine for some 80k or so - in naija that pc sould have been at least 150k

looks like i'll be buying a refurbished one at max $2500 - brand new fully loaded are at over $7000 

dell and ibm have outlets where u can get certified refurbished models at a fraction of the market price

and i still have to buy a backpack that can house the monster - i go craze to buy regular laptop bag - my back go finish

in the end your decision is based on what u want to use the pc for.

be advised though, that if you intend to game the latest and greatest, then u best look out for 512 mb video card, 7200 rpm hdd
3- 4gb ram, and 2.2ghz core 2 duo anything else and you will back here starting complaint threads

ditto for if you intend to do serious 3d modelling. rendering is a bitch that will have you in zen mode as you wait 30 minutes for a render if your pc is not up to par

Your laptop doesn't seem old at all. Why don't install a version of Linux; for example Ubuntu? You'd be surprised at the speed increase.
