Tottenham have held talks with Rennes winger Ousmane Dembele as the race heats up for one of European football's hottest talents, according to France Football.

The 18-year-old has been in sensational form this season, scoring 12 goals and registering five assists in 21 appearances in Ligue 1 as fifth-placed Rennes chase a Champions League berth.

His performances have alerted the attention of Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSG, with the teenager scouted extensively this term.

But it appears that Tottenham have jumped ahead of those European giants and have opened preliminary talks with Dembele.

The player's agent is reported to have met with Spurs officials in London last week to discuss a potential deal, though despite Rennes being open to selling he is likely to cost around £30 million.
