The Catalan club and winner of past champions league, F.C. Barcelona were removed out of the competition by an impressive Atletico side last night. Barca won the first leg 2-1 but only took advantage of the match after Fernando Torres was dismissed for two bookable offenses.

Prior to yesterdays match, Antoine Griezmann headed the home side into a first half lead as Lionel Messi went missing in the match. The tie was 2-2 but Atleti's away goal meant they will advance to the semi-finals. But however, Griezmann netted late in the game to give his side the lead on aggregate.

Barca's coach, Luis Enrique after the game said, "It is obvious we are not in our best moment , but we have to pick ourselves up. There are still some attractive competitions left for us to play." Griezmann said, "It was an amazing performance against one of the best teams in the world."

Barca still lead la liga by three points from Atletico and four points from Real Madrid.
