The draws for the Olympic Football Tournament were held some minutes ago at the Maracana stadium in Brazil.

Nigeria's Dream Team VI were placed in group B alongside Sweden, Colombia and Japan. Nigeria's first match will be against Japan; as it was at the 2008 Olympics.

Hosts, Brazil, are in Group A alongside South Africa, Iraq and Denmark. The opening game for the men's tournament sees Brazil taking on South Africa.

Group C comprises debutants, Fiji, Korea Republic, Mexico, Germany.

Group D contains Honduras, Algeria, Portugal, and Argentina.

On the women's side:

Group E comprises Brazil, China PR, Sweden and South Africa.

Group F teams are Canada, Australia, Germany, and debutantes Zimbabawe

And Group G comprises reigning Olympic and world champions USA, New Zealand, France and Colombia.

It looks like the Brazilians are in an 'easy' group, and are favorites to garner the maximum 9 points.

But history favors South Africa in the opening match. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the South Africans produced a massive shock by beating Brazil 3-1 in a group match.
