It's iCloud locked (though not sure about that) and I think it's network unlocked.

Hmmm, the phone was bought in UK, I have checked it, it was bought from Vodafone in May 2015 covered by insurance & warranty which just expired on May 5, 2016. Whether it was stolen or lost, I can't say. The sender bought it from a flea market but is ignorant of how iPhones work. It has never been used in Nigeria.

You asked a valid question, that's good.

The phone has never been used in Nigeria. Most second hand phones sold in Nigeria are either traded in by owner, lost of stolen. It all depends on the brand of phone. iPhones are peculiar phones which could be locked with iCloud unlike phones like Samsung and others which are easily unlocked here in Nigeria even it they are stolen.
The person who sent this phone is a novice when it comes to iPhones, not sure he knows how iCloud works. Anyway, whether it is stolen or not, that I can't say, but the IMEI is clean and the phone detects different micro SIMs when inserted which shows it is factory unlocked, what it needs is iCloud unlock and that is all. I have checked it out.

I'll send the IMEI to you soon. I have sent it to few people, they checked and said they can unlock it, but their condition and terms of service is what I'm not comfortable with because I really don't know these guys one on one.

If you can unlock it without you asking me to drop the phone first or give you money upfront, then we have a deal. Like I said earlier, the phone reads all SIM networks, but need activation from iCloud, I thinks that's ICloud removal right?
