Apr 25, In Arkansas two little girls, Sidney Pippin (4-months old) and Vicky Fraley, died of heat exhaustion after they were left in a car for 8 hours in Little Rock. Police charged Ricky Leon Crisp (23), the father of Vicky (16-months old), and Justin Griffith (27) with first-degree murder.

Apr 25, Lisa “Left Eye" Lopes (30), top female singer in the trio TLC, was killed in a car crash in Honduras. Her albums included “Crazysexycool" (1994).

Apr 25, In Washington DC tens of thousands of women gathered for an abortion-rights rally as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton told several hundred of them the issue is about women gaining full equality.

Apr 25, A pregnant suicide bomber blew herself up in front of a car carrying Sri Lanka's highest-ranking general, killing 8 people and badly injuring the top officer.

Apr 25, Beatrice Arthur (b.1922), stage and TV actress, died. The tall, deep-voiced actress considered herself lucky to be discovered by television executives after a long stage career that included a Tony award for the musical "Mame." Her TV shows included “Maude" (1972-1978) and “The Golden Girls" (1985-1992).

Apr 25, In Afghanistan 13 girls became sick in northern Kunduz province. Another 47 had complained of dizziness and nausea the day before, and 23 fell ill on April 21. A strange odor in their classrooms, prompted an investigation into whether they were targeted by militants who oppose education for girls or victims of mass hysteria.

Apr 25, German-Jewish writer Stefanie Zweig (81), best known for her autobiographical novel "Nowhere in Africa" (1995), died. The book retold the story of her family's time in Kenya. A movie adaptation won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2003.
