he was convicted and sentenced to 2 years each on 77 charges. This equals to 154 years but he will serve the term concurrently, meaning he will serve two years

Check This Out..

A prisoner who is serving two concurrent five-year sentences will serve those prison terms together, meaning that he'll probably get out of jail in five years rather than ten.

2yrs each for a count which equals 154yrs for 77counts for which he was found guilty. Unfortunately, the jail term will run concurrently which means he has just 2yrs to spend in prison.
Stupid judgement that encourages stealing....
God forsaken judicial system of Nigeria... Corruption is in our blood.... Only God knows how much the judge was paid. Smh

Guy u may b wrong also...

They did Nt say he is guilty of 77 charges.....

They said he is guilty on the 77th meaning out of 208..he was only guilty of d number 77...meaning Jst 1, charge.....

Each count 2years culd mean that all the 208 charges has strictly 2 years each.....so since he is guilty of Jst d 77 number he has Jst 2years to spend.....

All am trying to say that op post has many meaning

Let me get this straight. He stole 1.4 billion and was jailed for two years shocked shocked shocked shocked

I'm afraid rather than be a corrective measure, this will encourage looters to steal more. Meanwhile my people carry out jungle justice on someone that steals just ordinary phone. I laugh for my country in Spanish.
Let me help U a bit. He was arraigned on a 208 count charge totalling N1.4 billion but was found guilty 77 counts amounting to N69 million.
Again, Mr. Wahab Shittu who is the EFCC lawyer brought the charges under section 14 of Money Laundering Act, 2004 which stipulates for a maximum sentence of 2 years. The Judge cannot punish him more than the what the law says.
So its our laws that are the problem and not the judge.

I was inside the Court when the judgement was delivered. The Judge's hand was tied as he cannot impose a sentence beyond what the law says.
Our laws are archaic and not in touch with the time we are in.

The judgement says the defendant would spend the terms "concurrently". Concurrently means he will spend the 2yr sentence of each charge at the same time.
So, the convicted man will only spend 2years in prison.
