Buhari Alone Can’t Turn Around Nigeria’s Fortunes – Atiku by Jahelastic(m): 8:00pm On May 01, 2016
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari alone cannot turnaround Nigeria’s fortunes.

He said this in his May Day message to Nigerian workers. Atiku explained that notwithstanding the huge challenges the country and its people are facing, it will take the support of everyone working in tandem with the Buhari administration to lift the economy out of the doldrums.

The former Vice President noted that President Buhari’s anti-corruption-corruption crusade when combined with curbing waste and profligacy will free much-needed resources to jumpstart the economy by investing in infrastructure and high jobs yielding sectors especially agriculture as proposed by the government.

Atiku said, “President Buhari alone cannot turnaround the fortunes of the country.

“It requires everyone – elected and appointed officials, the legislature and the judiciary, the public and private sectors and ordinary Nigerians – working together in faith and commitment to bring about the desired change.

“With dwindling revenue from oil, it has become imperative for us to bake a bigger cake that will be big enough for all partakers. To achieve this, we need to be more creative as a government and more productive as a people.

“We all need to make sacrifices in line with the realities of the time. It is not enough to ask workers to make sacrifices while public office holders are ostensibly immune from it. Such a situation promotes industrial disharmony”.

He urged Nigerian workers not to lose faith in the ability of the nation under the leadership of President Buhari to surmount these odds.

The former Vice President also proposed a fairer deal for workers in order to reduce the frequency of strikes in the country, which he regrets takes a heavy toll on the economy.

He reminded workers that the envisaged better deal for them is intrinsically tied to increased productivity.

He also observed that improved conditions of service for workers would help to reduce corruption and fraud among employees.

Atiku also said it is impossible to convince workers to make sacrifices while the public office holders live a life that is inconsistent with the economic realities of Nigeria.

Mr Atiku, keep shut and don't vex me there.

He seeked for our votes, promising us heaven and earth, he made us believe he's a superman and there's no problem, no matter how big that he can't overcome so please shut it and tell Mr President to start working.

We know he can't do it alone and that's why we were patient enough with him for about 5months to select the best hands to assist him so he's got no excuse. He's not alone and he had better start doing some real work before we start pelting all of you with sticks and stones.

Reality is beginning to make some people think properly.
Earlier than now we (or they) expected the government to do everything alone...
Criticizing every idea and frustrating every move!
When we examine the role played by some of these peeps in previous administrations we will be tempted to call them hypocrists but I do not want to call this hypocrisy, let's believe they are learning to become better and more considerate humans.

Seriously it's a cool development; this newly found patriotism amongst some past criminals

The one-man mopol feels he can do it all. We're in an era (democracy) where you cannot keep about 3 - 4 jets at your disposal, and at the same time expect other public office holders to do away with their allowances, cars and perquisites. It won't work.

Democratic leadership is BY example, not IRON-FACE. We're not MONKs.
