Err.. Breastfeeding is actually a form of natural birth control. A woman secretes oxytocin into her bloodstream by the posterior pituitary gland when she's breastfeeding, for milk let down. Oxytocin contracts the uterus and also secretes prostaglandins that strengthen the contractions, making it impossible for anything to stay in the uterus.. Infact, oxytocin is sometimes used to induce labour (to aid contractions when it doesn't start early enough) during childbirth ... So its not a myth, its actually a fact, that breastfeeding is a form of birth control! |

MYTH 11: WOMEN DETERMINES THE SEX OF THE CHILD Reality:- women are not the ones that determine the sex of the child because they have xx chromosomes, they only transfer most of their genes and DNA to the child more than the man, that's why the child or the children resembles the mother genetically than the father. It's the man that determines the sex of the child because they have XY chromosomes, X = female while Y = male. So if a woman is giving birth to just girls, it's the man's fault not the woman. helpforcouples: 2 Likes 1 Share |

Zellie: we understand bro but this is not a conventional method of birth control..Do we because oxytocin prevents pregnancy and hence induce breastfeeding in a non - parturiting woman..surely no! moreover,In my course of medical career as a student, I have seen two ladies in Obstetrics unit. the first happened to be lactating and still pregnant with another baby..though the Senior Registral said it wasnt a very common case but it did happen.. the other one was pregnant and still menstruating..hormonal imbalance and hypothalamic-hypophyseal dysfunctions can elicit this conditions.. my point is there can still be iota of myth there! selah |

Zellie: no sir! normalcy in the medical field is a relative term.. her case may be essential and have an idiopathic cause of hormonal imbalance.. let's consider hyoertension for instance,a reading of 120/80 may be considered normal by the WHO where as in some localities 130/90 may still be considered normal..so normalcy is a varying term.. |
