Ensuring accurate and factual reporting is part of the code of ethics guiding the journalism profession anywhere in the world. But it's quite unfortunate that most media outfits in Nigeria do not regard this ethical standard, and this explains why our media space is filled with myriad of unverified and baseless reports and fabrications.

The "I will be the first to break-the-news syndrome coupled with the laziness and irresponsibility of most media organisations will continue to murder the journalism profession in Nigeria. It is pathetic that a media outfit like Sahara Reporters could publish this kind of unverified story - predicting someone's death. This is irresponsible journalism at its peak.

When you are in doubt, you leave out. Sahara Reporters and other news media should, therefore, desist from dishing out baseless and unverified reports. Stop misinforming and misleading the public.
