Laolu Senbanjo is a trained lawyer, singer and a visual artist who has put his creativity to good use by drawing from the inspiration of his traditional heritage. His body work which he titled ‘Sacred Art Of The Ori’ is an incredible piece of art which speaks nothing less than the roots of his Yoruba culture, the origin of a practice derived from a spiritual Yoruba ritual.
“In my language, Yoruba ‘Ori’ literally means your essence, your soul, your destiny,”
Nigerians went crazy over that on social media because not only did his hard work and creativity get him signed onto Nike, he was also the artist behind the body art in Beyonce’s music video ‘Lemonade’.
His work has literally taken African art beyond its borders. And we are mighty proud of our artist and our culture.
