CAF Proposes 16 Clubs for Confederation Cup, Champions League The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has proposed major new reforms in the Champions League and the Confederation Cup to take effect from 2017. A report on the 38th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), held in Mexico City, Mexico, indicated that CAF was ready to make the changes. From what we gathered from CAF website, instead of the current eight at the pool stage, 16 clubs divided into four groups of four will participate at the group stages.
