The most disciplined and most impressive Military in History is the Roman Legions, this army was so well organised and well disciplined, that's why they were revered by all, Each Legion is made up of 4800-5000 Men, the Roman Legions were so numerous that they had to be divided, with each Legion bearing it's own name, Emblem and Standard, each Legion carry their Legionary standard which was the symbol of the Eagle which represented strength, it was considered a huge disgrace if any of the Roman Legionary Eagle was mssing, the Romans can declare war on a province just to reclaim their lost Eagle, some of the most prominent Roman Legions were, Legio X Hispania, Legio IX Britannica, Legio XI Gaelica and so many others too numerous to mention.

each Legion is identified by their name, Emblem or mascot and Standard for instance Julius Caesar's Ninth Legion was known as Legio IX Britannica its Emblem or Mascot was the Eagle and the Lion, while Gaius Magnus Pompey the Great Legions were identified by the Mascot or of the Eagle and Dolphin and Marcus Crassus Legions were known by the Mascot of the Bull.

Roman Legions dont rush into a battle, when the horn is sounded for advance they march slowly into the battle fully equipped, if they get close to the enemy and the enemy fire barrages of arrow at them, a single arrow will never hit them because they have a sound tactics for blocking such assualt, which they referred to as testudo.

Roman Legions always carry out heavy assault when an enemy is too strong for them, before the infantry advances to battle formations, they first of all us ballisters and catapults to project large balls of flames that explodes when it hits the ground, then the archers fire flames of arrows at the enemy weakening the enemy , then the Roman infantry now advance in a phalanx formation and finish off the enemy easily.

Most Prominent Generals of the Roman Legions,
Gaius Julius Caesar best known for crossing the Rubicon into Britannia modern day Britain, and for his conquest of Gaul modern day France.

Gneaus Pompeius Magnus known as Pompey the Great, Master of Land and Sea was referred to as the adolescent butcher by Caesar and Crassus because he was only 18 when he inherited his Father's Legions and won so many battles for the Romans the most notable of these was the battle against the renegade Sertorius in Hispania modern day Spain, he met his end when his Legions lost a battle against Julius Caesar,
Marcus Licinnius Crassus the most wealthiest Man in Roman history, best known for defeating Spartacus and bringing an end to the Slave revolt led by Spartacus in 71BC, he met his end when he attempted to win military glory by engaging Rome long term enemy, the Parthians in a failed Military campaign, he lost all his Legions he and his son were killed it was the worst defeat for the Romans.

Gaius Marius best known for reforming the Roman military by recruiting landless poor citizens into the Roman army, in his war against the barbarian invaders from Gaul the Teutonese and the Ambronese.
